How it Began

History

2011

Ark Medical has since its inception in 2011 been carrying out regular CSR Activities including free checking of vitals for people within its neighborhood, free medical care for selected aged persons, once a year free screening and counseling for the community as well as outreaches in remote areas. It has also regularly made its specialist doctors and other staff available to churches, mosques, schools and other groups who need health education in specific areas.

2021

In 2021 is was agreed by the board that health screening activities should not be focused on people within our community alone but also be extended to include deprived communities in other areas as well. It was resolved that the CSR activities be registered with the Registrar Generals Department for better management and reporting. AMC Care foundation was thus registered and incorporated by the Registrar Generals Department on 16th December 2021.

Dumpong, Eastern Region

Since then several outreaches have been held in deprived communities in Dumpong and New Fadama in Accra as well as within the premise of Ark Medical Centre for the community

Our deprived community outreaches has revealed a significant number of patients with Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) mainly Diabetes and Hypertension. Most of such persons didn’t know they have these diseases whereas those who know are not being managed properly for it. Reasons attributed to these included limited access to health services, lack of education on their diseases & financial constraints.

In line with this, our foundation is now focusing mainly on reducing complications of Non-Communicable Diseases by improving diagnoses of these and providing innovative patient management support. We are also partnering with care givers, community leaders and other local stakeholders in the healthcare value chain to assist in management of NCDs

Start your own initiative

The foundation seeks to adopt specific communities and provide these services for and add on from time to time. Due to high cost of visiting these remote areas regularly, we seek to include digital healthcare tools such as telemedicine in the management of patients and training of care givers. This would enable us to spread to a larger audience
